What is Corporate Accreditation?

Corporate accreditation is like a huge fulcrum that can leverage improvement across an entire corporation. There is no question that the school and the classroom are at the heart of teaching and learning. Corporate accreditation, however, has the power to nurture and support individual school improvement, and the same time unify school improvement and align it with overall corporate improvement goals so that the corporate’s schools are moving in one direction together, on the same page.

Corporate leaders engaged in AdvancED Corporate Accreditation will:

• • Take stock of themselves in relation to a set of research-based quality standards; 
  • Establish a vision, assess their current reality, implement and improvement plan, monitor progress and evaluate results; 
  • Enhance best thinking with the insights and perspectives of an external review team.

AdvancED provides an effective engine for systematizing and maximizing corporate improvement efforts. Corporate accreditation recognizes that increasing student achievement involves more than improving instruction. It is a result of how well all the parts of the education system – the corporation, school, and classroom – work together to meet the needs of students.

Somerset Academy Schools are accredited by the AdvancED Accreditation Commission, the national commission that confers accreditation.  Somerset Academy, Inc. achieved accreditation under the AdvancED System Accreditation Model, which means that the corporation and all of its schools are accredited and Somerset Academy, Inc. is recognized across the nation as a quality education system. The accreditation process involves three ongoing components:

• • Meeting high quality standards;
  • Implementing a continuous process of improvement; and
  • Engaging in quality assurance through internal and external review. 

The corporation’s accreditation is for a five-year term with regular monitoring of progress and reporting occurring during the term.  Dr. Mark Elgart, President/CEO of AdvancED, stated, “Corporation Accreditation is a rigorous process that focuses the entire corporation on the primary goal of creating lifelong learners.  Somerset Academy, Inc. is to be commended for engaging in this process and demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.”
